After our field trip to learn about erosion, we wanted to try it out. We constructed layers of colored sand in clear bins to simulate the effects of rainwater on soil with no vegetation. We were also investigating the different layers of the Earth exposed over many years from these processes like in the Grand Canyon. It was a bit messy, but very informative to watch the layers being worn away at high speed verses the slow changes that take place in nature.
